It would beep sometimes and other times it wouldn't beep. Same with pressing the horn on the steering wheel. It would work sometimes other times it wouldn't. I checked by replacing the horn relay and the horn worked. I ordered a new relay so we will see if it fixed the problem. Won't know till I try the horn different times on different days.

Hope this is not thread stealing--think we are all talking same problem set. Have horn ground problem as well. Only works with the horn button off and arching it with a screwdriver. Had column out to paint it as well and replaced rag joint. Looked at the wiring diagram and there is nothing showing a ground for the column.
First disconnect the battery. Now, disconnect the black lead (on my 69 it is black iirc) at the horn relay and connect your ohm Meter to this wire. When you press the horn button, this should show ground. If this does not happen, the issue is from the horn button to the relay. If this works, hook up the black wire and connect the battery.
Step 3 – Check the wire connections to the horns. Your Mercedes has two horns: a low-tone horn located in the engine compartment on the passenger side and a high-tone horn located on the driver's side of the engine compartment. You can easily access the passenger-side horn and check the connection to make sure it is secure and not corroded.
The horn on Toyota Matrix needs electricity to work. In case of a faulty fuse, the circuit is interrupted and the horn can not work. Check your Matrix’s owners manual or the fuse box cover to find the exact location of the fuse for the horn. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one with the specified amp rating.
