The AGS-101 model is known for being significantly more sought after than the 001 model, and thus can fetch high prices. The 101 model's backlight screen is similar to the backlight on the Game Boy Micro screen though the SP's backlit screen is larger. The 001 (frontlit SP) models came in silver, blue, crimson red, and black. Originally the gba sp exist with 001 screen and some rare ones with 101 screen. Ags 001 is okay. It's visible. But most people want to upgrade that to ips screens. Ags 101 looks good. It's different from ips screens. Some games looks better on the 101, some look better on the ips screen. Bit subjective. If you're fine with the 001 screen, you're probably looking at 70-80$. The 101, probably around $120. An IPS modded GBA SP will usually be more like $180-200, but they vary a lot because when someone does one mod, they might do others as well. Personally I'm a diehard for the 101 screen, but many people prefer the IPS.

On ebay I only see offers for 40-50$ before shipping, and on aliexpress I only see either boards for AGS-101 or one seller, which only sells in bulk. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be hugely appreciated.

I ordered a refurbed (actually a converted 001) fire red SP off ebay with a 101 screen. Even had a red screen protector. Pricey though, was $90, the aftermarket case also wasn’t very great (no aftermarket cases are).

I totally agree about the brightness difference BS in the video, my first thought was that was not how bright an AGS-101 is. That looked like an original 001 next to the IPS v2 lol. I got an AGS-101 with Voltage regulator for my personal GBA. I liked the weight and true colors more than the IPS v2. iNKZB.
